Diarized vs Motion (2026): move your tasks in, or leave them where they are

The short answer is this. Choose Motion if you want one app to replace your task manager, project tracker and calendar, and you will pay for the consolidation. Choose Diarized if your tasks already live in Todoist, Notion, Jira, Linear, ClickUp, Asana, TickTick, Google Tasks or Microsoft To Do and you want them scheduled without moving anything. The structural difference

Motion schedules only the tasks you keep in Motion. Its built-in ways to get work in are forwarding an email and asking Siri; anything else goes through Zapier or its API. Adopting it means your to-do list moves house. Diarized has no task list of its own. It reads nine external task apps and writes blocks to the Google or Outlook calendar you already own. If Diarized shut down tomorrow, your tasks would still be exactly where you put them; that portability is the product.

Motion does not offer a free plan. Its pricing page opens on the team annual tab showing $19 per seat, but an individual pays $29 a month billed annually or $49 billed monthly, after a 7-day trial that takes a card and converts automatically. Diarized is $5 a month, with a free plan that connects one task app and one calendar account.

What Motion does better

Real things, verified against its own documentation in August 2026. Motion splits a long task into sessions with a minimum chunk length; Diarized books one contiguous block. Motion can schedule outside your working hours to hit a hard deadline; Diarized never books outside the hours you set. Motion adds buffer and travel time around events, looks 31 days ahead, and bundles meeting-booking links, docs and project management. If you want that suite, it is genuinely a different product.

What Diarized does better

It comes down to breadth and explanation. Nine task apps against zero external ones. A deterministic trace behind every block: open any block and see what it competed with and what it lost to, not a description of an algorithm. Honest deadline handling: since August 2026 Diarized flags work that will finish after its due date, or refuses to book it at all if you prefer, and says which. And a price a fifth to a tenth of Motion's, because scheduling is the whole job rather than a feature of a suite.
